How to process graphite electrode?
(a) the processing form of graphite materials
There are three main forms of graphite electrode processing: pressure vibration method, numerical control automatic forming method and mechanical processing method.
(1) Pressurized vibration method: the pressurized vibration method requires a special machine tool, and the electrode mother mold is opposite to the electrode shape. Graphite materials and forming tools are placed relative to each other during processing, leaving a certain gap. A processing fluid consisting of a mixture of water and abrasives is injected into it. The graphite and the forming tool are subjected to ultrasonic vibration while passing through the processing fluid. Under the action of the abrasive impact, the graphite is slightly removed to form the desired shape. The abrasive is SiC, B4C or diamond, the rougher the abrasive is the faster the processing speed. Sealing and water curtain are used to process the machine. Edm process suitable for mass production.
(2) NUMERICAL control automatic forming method: numerical control automatic forming method needs special graphite electrode forming machine, it adopts numerical control, automatic tool exchange device, can accommodate more than a tool. In order to improve the processing environment, the graphite electrode is surrounded by water curtain to prevent the graphite dust from dispersing everywhere. In addition, wet machining can be used by water-soluble cutting fluid to prevent tool wear and graphite dust flying. The machine has high performance filter device, can separate cutting fluid and graphite chip, can ensure long time continuous processing, is the ideal special equipment for graphite electrode processing, suitable for mold electrode processing. However, its price is higher and it is not widely used in China.
(3) Machining method: machining method is the main method adopted by domestic general mold production units.
Graphite materials can be machined by turning, milling, drilling and grinding. In addition, graphite materials in mechanical processing is easy to produce dust flying, to the processing equipment and operators bring adverse effects.
(two) graphite material processing procedures
1) graphite immersion oil. Graphite material in mechanical processing, should be immersed in oil for dozens of hours, so that the oil into the graphite material, so that the mechanical processing of ash powder is not flying, and can get a smoother surface.
2) paint and line. After roughing the surface of the electrode, a thin layer of white paint is sprayed on the marking surface, so that the lines are clear and convenient for mechanical processing.
3) Mechanical processing.
